I have the following surnames Coulter, McKee, Welsh, McMullan and McCann all interlinking in Down around the Kircubbin area in the early 1800's.
To begin I have a gravestone with the following for a William Coulter:
COULTER
Erected by
William Coulter
in memory of his father
WILLIAM COULTER,
late of Rureagh, who died
16th July 1831, aged 78 yrs.
Also his wife
MARY COULTER alias WALSH
who died 7th January 1838,
aged 65 yrs.
The only confusion lies is which William is Mary the wife of - the father or the son?
I have found a marriage record in 1801 for a William Coulter and Mary Welsh but that does not clarify which William. (Marriage 23 Aug 1801 • Presbyterian, Kircubbin,Down,Ireland)
There are also other William's in the area.
There is also a William who married a Jane.
William had a daughter Esther who married a William McKee. This family then extends out to include the surnames of McMullan and McCann.
The same issue occurs with the McKee's there are many William's.
If anyone has any of these surnames from around the same area in the early 1800's I'm happy to provide more details to help sort who is who.

Just a wee point that might be useful.....Esther is often rendered Hester.

...in memory of his father
WILLIAM COULTER,

Might it be Rowreagh townland in the Kircubbin area (in the civil parish of Inishargy)?

Thank you all for the responses and suggestions thus far. I have ventured down all of those paths with no definite success. Any further suggestions are welcome. I can provide further details if necessary.
