I have very little on my GG Grandfather. He was born around 1842 (from census info). He was born in ST. ASAPH (also listed as Tremeirchion). He married Mary Wynne in 1866 in Liverpool.
How would I go about locating his birth info (not on 1861 census) and his parents?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

From that you can at least get his fathers name, that should make it easier to find him with his parents in earlier censuses

I have marriage certificate. It shows that his father was a miner by the name of William Williams (1866) . Does anyone have any info on 1841 William Williams as a miner in this area. (I believe more deadends). Ebenezer was born in St. Asaph or Tremeirchion in about 1842.

Ebenezer is actually a fairly uncommon name and I had a look at Free BMD. Whilst this is relatively incomplete there is an Ebenezer born in the March 1/4 of 1842 in the Bangor registration area. A search for 1861 reveals him as the son of William Williams. The family were living in Llanllechid , Caernarvonshire and that is where Ebenezer was born. Now this of course may be a red herring but if you would like details from the 1861 census plase let me know.
Alternatively if you are confident about St Asaph or Tremeirchion I would suggest asking the Holywell Registrar for the birth certificate which should not be too difficult. I am not sure about payment from Canada.

Thank you for that info. I had looked at that Ebenezer before. I had ruled it out, sort of. All Census 1871-1901 show him being born in either Tremeirchion or St.Asaph.
I could not definitely determine his whereabouts in 1861.
I have just (yesterday) received his marriage certificate (1866 Liverpool England). It shows his father as William Williams (A MINER). So the freebmd entry might have merit. I will try that Holywell as you suggest.
Is there a 1851 census from Denbighshire (or Flintshire)?
This would probably give me some info.

It seems quite common for North Walians to marry in Liverpool in that era - the draw of the city.
There is an 1851 census for all the country but sadly at the moment it is not available on CD or the internet. I saw on Rootschat that it may be on Ancestry.co.uk in the near future. There are I know some parts of both counties that are missing but have a feeling your area is unaffected.
I originally come from Denbighshire and Stoke-on-Trent where I live now is over 1 1/4 hours away so any rare visit I make is regretably only for my own and my wife's use ( I have such a lot to do!!) - there is no index available for the 1851 census so it is a slog looking through film. There may be a more local Rootschatter member prepared to do a look up. I have a William Williams in my ancestry (from Dolwyddelan which is sometimes Caernarvonshire and sometimes Denbighshire) so I know the difficulties with the surname.
I have just had a further thought and looked on Northwales BMD which produced the following:

I have also checked North Wales BMD. That 1846 showed up for me as well. I discounted it because everything points to a 1842-43 birth in St. Asaph/ Tremeirchion (from 1871-1901 census) It was called Flintshire in those cesus. I am frustrated with this side of my family. I hope to make a trip to England/Wales within the next year, and hope to do some searches.
I have ancestry.com (including uk). I hope this 1851 comes out soon.

Only recently joined Rootschat and I came across your interest in Ebenezer Williams of Tremeirchion. There is a possibility that we are both looking for the same person's details.
I was originally looking for my ggrandmother Margaret Elizabeth Williams and came across one on the 1881 census at Isaac Street, Toxteth Park together with what I assume is her brother William and father Ebenezer (a widower). I have yet to confirm that he is the right person as I have not yet obtained her marriage certificate but there are 2 things that make me think it is right.
In 1881 the house they are lodging at is owned by a Jane Parry of FLINTSHIRE.
In 1901 the now married Margaret is a visitor to a house in Everton which is owned by a Margaret Hughes of FLINTSHIRE.
I managed to find a birth for Ebenezer in December qtr. 1841 in St. Asaph
Of course I could be barking up the wrong tree, I guess I'll have to get the marriage certificate to find out.

The recent posting has reminded me of the original enquiry. I now have access to the 1851 census (and should have to the 1841 in a month or so).
I have found Ebenezer and all the details tie in and I give them below in case you have not already found them.
All Williams's and living at Tanygraig , Graig
William 53 Miner born Cyffylliog
Jane 52 Dymeirchion
Margaret 18 Newmarket
Jane 16 do
John 11 Dymeirchion
Ebenezer 9 do
Dymeirchion is I believe an older name for Tremeirchion
Newmarket (not the English racing town) is quite close
Cyffylliog is in Denbighshire near to Ruthin
Graig is near to Tremeirchion

Since my last posting I have also discovered the family of Ebenezer living in Graig. I am fairly sure this is them.
Mike , what is Margaret's married name and where did she marry. I have tried to find her marriage , but way too many Margaret Williams. I would like to know more.
Ems girl, thanks for the info, I am hoping, in the near future to visit Wales and England, and plan to do some research in the Graig area.
Peter, yes Dymerchion and Tremerchion seem interchangeable. I see you are looking for Rowlands and Wynnes. Ebenezer married a Mary Wynne , who was widowed froma Rowlands. Her father was Thomas Rowlands , I would like to know if you have any further info on these families.
