Title: Los Angeles 1927 Post Office Location
Post by: USCRx on Friday 19 May 23 18:03 BST (UK)
My grandfather was a mailman in Los Angeles in the 1920s, 1930s and 1940s. I have a photograph of him with his fellow mailmen in front of the Los Angeles Post Office G. I'm wondering where this Post Office was located? He regularly delivered mail in the Vermont Avenue area. Thanks!

That address in South Vermont Avenue seems to now be Wellnest Emotional Health & Wellness. Is it the same building?

Sometimes city directories will list a location where the person worked, so you might want to try looking in those for your grandfather wherever he lived.  There might also be addresses for post offices in the city directories.

Station G was at 1010 W 48th St, in the 1948 phone book

edit: which looks like the corner of Vermont Ave and W 48th

There's a picture of the building at that address on Google maps, and it could pass for an old 1 story post office.

---------
Los Angeles Station G was in existence from 1897 to 1902, then from 1906 to 1952:

^ a nice site by the way, if you like old postcards, tracing the recipients, etc.

Thanks so much, everyone! In the photo of the group of mailmen there is a 1010 over the front door of the building. So it's probably 1010 W. 48th Street
