I have a Benjamin Horsley born 1848 Soham Cambridgeshire on the 1871 Canada Census living in Ottawa age 23 English with wife Arminella age 21 Irish. I'm wondering if anyone can point me to their marriage. On her burial monument in Beechwood cemetery Carleton, Ontario it says that she was Armanella S Barry, wife of Benjamin Horsley. She died 24 March 1892 at Hoosick Falls, New York.
Also I looking for any immigration info for Benjamin prior to this marriage.
Thanks in advance
Cheers John

On the passport application in 1919 (partial copy below) - Benjamin Horsley - stated he lived in England from birth to 1869
He resided in the USA from July 1871

Thank you Rosie, Carole & Sandra for that information, especially the newspaper reports.
Yes they are that couple who moved to Hoosick Falls, New York for the 1880 US census & prior to that were in Orange, NY for the 1875 NY census. After Armanella died in March 1892 Benjamin returned to England and married Mary Anne (Marian) Speller in Soham, Cambs on 25 May 1894 where he is recorded as being publisher & editor of the 'Rensslaer County Standard' of Hoosick Falls, NY. After their marriage the couple returned to New York.
They are found on 1900 US census in New York but seem to have returned to England in Sept 1901 initially to Soham but moved to Lowestoft, Suffolk around 1903.

Hi Sandra, I have this newspaper clipping annotated 8-6-63 (don't know if this is 8th June or 6th August 1963) which mentions Benjamin Horsley of Lowestoft. I'd be interested if you could identify the newspaper. I have used FultonSearch to try and find anything on 'Alice Scott Ross' who wrote the article. Results returned list entries in the Greenfield MA Recorder saying that she was a columnist in the Springfield Union.

American date 6 August 1963 - will have a look later

Was that marriage not 1949 ?
I found an entry on the Connecticut Marriage Index for Robert Hinckley & Helen Wright on 4 Aug 1947 in Hartford
-
That's ok then. I was looking in Chicopee Hamden Massachusetts and this entry had the middle initials strange. Only because Helen had lived there all her life and they were there together on the 1950 census
Sandra
Added This was apparently a remarriage.
