Title: Silver War Badge Abbreviation Help
Post by: Canuk on Friday 28 April 23 21:27 BST (UK)
I have a man who was awarded the Silver War Badge although he never served overseas. On the roll, under cause of discharge it has the abbreviation 392(xvi). Please can you tell me what this means? He died in 1922. I understand that this badge was given to those honourably discharged due to illness or injury. Thanks

The abbreviation refers to Kings Regulations paragraph 392(xvi). (Amended to remove incorrect image.)

Kings Regulations paragraph 392(xvi) is:

"No longer physically fit for war service"

Thanks so much. That clears it up. The poor fellow must have really suffered.
