Title: Padbury
Post by: scrimnet on Friday 28 April 23 14:39 BST (UK)
I wonder if anyone can help pse??

Some years ago (1999 I believe) Padbury Parish Council published a book called "Padbury Through The Years".

I have been after a copy for sometime now, as my great grandparents feature in it quite a lot as I have been informed by a newly found relative!!

I have tried the Parish Council, Abebooks, Evilbay and all the usual places....Even a tiny bookseller called Cottage Books who normally have the obscure and forgotten county/countryside/village/FH books!

Have you tried the local library? Just a thought.

In addition the local Family History Society may just have a copy. I know my own Family History Society have a Library of local books -- again - just a thought.

Good Luck on finding a copy.

Oh so sorry.

How frustrating for you -- maybe one day (if you are good) - you will find one.

That's not what I've heard scrimnet!!

It's surprising how word gets around - except of course for those words contained in the pesky missing book 'Padbury through the Years'!

Printer was Kall Kwik Printing, Aylesbury.
Do they still exist?

Publisher was Padbury Parish Council.

No longer in print.

It might be worth trying second hand bookshops in the area. most have a database of what they've got in stock or if not a local area section where you could have a trawl through.

Hi,

Not sure if this will help but..........

On line found a Aug/Sept 2024 pdf issue of The Padbury Parish Pump magazine - on Page 4 it refers to "Padbury Through the Years" and says that only 50 copies of the book will be reprinted and there will be a few spare copies available - it says contact the Parish Clerk for further details. It suggests a minimum donation of £20 per copy which would go towards a new zip wire at Padbury Play Area.

The contact name for the Parish Clerk is shown but as living I don't want to show details - an e-mail to parish.clerk@padburyparishcouncil.com may provide you with an answer.
