Hi again, Everyone,
A while since I last posted, but as is flagged up on this site, I shall be blowing my 76 trombones to whatever notes make up that tune, tomorrow
I was wondering, are there many 76 year olds who are fortunate enough to still have a parent or parents still in the land of the living. Have just taken my 97 year old mother for her latest NHS dental check up. Though of course she's not represented by very many remaining, original teeth now...

Gee you are lucky Keith. I was 37 and 43 when my parents died.
-
You are very fortunate in still having your mother living. Both my parents died when I was 37 and they hadn't reached 70. My two grandmothers lived to 94 and 98 and I realised later that they had lived through the reigns of six monarchs.

Many happy returns Keith. You are indeed fortunate! Cherish your mother - I'm sure you do. :D
I remember taking my mother for a dental check up about a year before she died, so around 87, it was a new, young dentist and when he looked in her mouth he was very impressed that she still had all her own teeth. :D

Happy Birthday Keith! I will catch you up in a few weeks. :D

Girl Guide,
Yes I absolutely realise how fortunate I am - we nearly lost her last year when off she was taken to a wonderful nearby Hospice. And wasn't expected to survive. We all thought that was it, but after 6 weeks out she came again, a bit of a female Lazarus figure to all concerned. As we all know the great thing about having a very elderly relative still alive is that there are still those aural/oral? stories about the family history to be passed on and carefully noted down...
And Maddy, your own Mum must really have known how to care for her teeth all those many years. I hope she passed on her dental wisdom to you. Many thanks for the greeting, and to you, Top-Of-The-Hill. But you'll never quite catch me up, will you? Ha!
Keith
...and I wonder whether the 6 monarchs life span of your two grandmothers might be some kind of record, Girl Guide?
Are you including Edward VIII, I presume?

I have a coronation souvenir ashtray for Edward VIII. My mother was working in London then and bought that one and the one for George VI. They both have the same date on them.

Happy Birthday Keith 🍻 🎈 🎂 🍷🎁

My aunt was 76 when her mother died in 2011, aged 98.
I also have an uncle still living who will turn 99 in 17-days time, although his eldest child is a few years your junior at 73.
Hope you enjoyed your birthday :)
