Hi All
Please can you take a look at this wedding cert.
Its for a Jennett Harris - widow ( harris is her married name). I think the father is davies ? Ancestry has it as Harris
This cert is for a Jennet Harris and Thomas Edwards, Merthyr Tydfil, 1848.
Otherwise I have a harris marrying a harris ! which seems odd.
thank you,
-
p.s the first marriage has it has davies or davis.
thats if i have the right cert ! :) ;D

Sorry I am confused as to your query
The marriage you are showing us has Thomas Edwards marrying Jennet Harris a widow whose father is named as John Davies. Presumably prior to this marriage Jennet Davies married unknown Harris

It’s a funny looking “D” but the rest is certainly “avies” and the first letter is nothing like the “H” of Harris, so I think it is Davies.
Added. I think there is a normal forward curve to the “D” but it is very faint, much fainter than the big loop behind the vertical line.

Thanks - sorry for the confusion.
This is her second marriage, after the death of her first husband Phillip Harris. If i have the right orriginal marriage certificate in 1820 her maiden name would be davies.

I assume it was just the fact that Ancestry had transcribed the fathers name wrongly that you were querying it. I agree with Davedrave that the first letter in her fathers surname is nothing like the H in Harris.

Hi, glamwales,
You are most welcome. I do a lot of transliteration and translation work. So, this was an easy walk for me. :)
