We are not certain if my great great uncle Ernest Constantine Ekonomon (sometimes spelled Ekonomou or Economou) born January 01, 1901/1902 (sometimes the date of birth varies a little) was in the service of sort (USA Navy or Coast Guard, etc.)
We believe this is a picture of him.
He was born in Greece, and his father is Constantine (or Konstantine or Konstantino). He lived in New York for many years and also Connecticut. He came to the USA around 1911/1912. He worked as a shoemaker for a while.
Thanks for the help in solving this mystery.

We believe this is a picture of him.
The image is a very blurred form of a bare-chested man holding an implement. It's impossible to tell if he is wearing part of a military uniform.

This doesn't advance your query but there is a single record for him at Fold3. It is a draft registration card from 1942. On this occasion he gives his birthdate as Jan 1 1900. He claims to have been born in Salem, Mass. Card has an address and his wife's name if you are interested.

:D :D Thanks all for the replies.
If you have the draft card, I would appreciate it. Thank you so much for offering.
The family story is that maybe he was in the navy but was not sure of that myself.
I could not find any evidence of this theory. The picture is a little blurry but it almost looked like he was mopping the deck of a ship.
