Title: Hobart family - Visitation of Norfolk 1563 Vol II
Post by: ptdrifter on Tuesday 28 March 23 09:29 BST (UK)
Hi all
Does anyone have access to a copy of the above other than the Google digitised version.
There is a section missing on top line of pg 63 and it happens to be some names I'd like to see .

There appears to be a copy at the Hathi Trust, with that page complete:

Alternatively, there's a composite volume which claims to include the 1563 visitation, but I haven't checked to see if your family is included:

I have Harbord/Herbert (variant of Hobart) ancestors from Norwich but not found any link to the ones in the Visitation. I have got back to a Benjamin Harbord born 1703 in Norwich to William and Sarah. Mine may have come from the Wroxham/Aylsham area originally. Not 100% sure though.

I have only recently discovered the link to the Hobart family. Never knew I had such illustrious ancestors :)
If I spot any links I'll let you know

Are you connected to Intwood Hall in Norwich? Some of my ancestors owned it later until a decade is so ago.

Sir Henry is my 2nd cousin 12x rem

Coincidentally he succeeded Sir Edward Coke as Chief Justice, Sir Edward being my 11th gt grandfather

"Sir Henry Hobart, 1st Baronet SL (1 January 1560 – 29 December 1625), of Blickling Hall, was an English politician who succeeded Sir Edward Coke to become Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas."

"From 1613 to 1625, his abilities were further recognized and he was elevated to Chief Justice of the Court of Common Pleas. Hobart was knighted in 1603 and made Baronet, of Intwood in the County of Norfolk on 11 May 1611.

He successfully acquired a fair amount of Norfolk property, including the estates of Intwood in 1596 and Blickling in 1616, where he was buried on 4 January 1626 (new calendar)."

and more coincidences , Blickling Estate's former owner was Sir Geoffrey Boleyn, who was my 14th Gt Grandfather, talk abut confusing

Plenty out there about Henry - checked him out on The History of Parliament.

Out of interest, did Sir Thomas Gresham have the house around Edward VI's time?
