He there:
Well, it doesn't look like John Rammage can be found in 1851. Perhaps he was no longer with us by then. Could someone possibly do a lookup for him? The address could be Vauxhaul Road. Sorry, not sure of the district. Since he was the keeper of Bridewell Prison I would suspect it would be in the same district. Here's hoping.
Anything much appreciated.

Alva

Hello Georgie:
Thank you so much for this. Amazing! Now I also have a couple of more names to look up with the daughters and one with a married name! Love the occupation of the last entry. Couldn't list her as boarder or lodger. Must have been the wife who gave out the info! Guess John was perhaps dead by 1851. Apparently no census could be found for him. Will have to do some more digging.
Thanks so much again. You have been a terrific help.
Cheers!

Hi Iria:
Thank you so much for this information. Now, just to find out which one is the right one! Lots of info from the Rootschatters today. Things are moving along after a real flat spot. Now to find out about John's wife, Mary Wilkinson. A more common surname. Might not be as easy to trace.
Thank you again. So much appreciated.
Cheers!

Hi Iria:
You are amazing! Once I get all of this info together I hope to make a trip to England one day. My mother's family is from the north and my father and his family were from the London area. Lots more to collect though. John Rammages granddaughter was my g grandmother, Ellen Welsh, born in Liverpool. Her father was John Welsh (Walch, Welch) and he was a waiter. Later found that he was a tide waiter, a customs man. At some point they moved to Manchester. Have found Ellen but have not been able to find her father, mother and sister after the 1851 census in Liverpool. Well, that's what makes this such an exciting hobby. The hunt.
Thanks again for your help.
Cheers!

Hi Iria:
Once again you have found a gem. Mary Ellen would have been Mary Wilkinson before marriage I am supposing. My g grandmother was Ellen, who would have been Mary Ellen's granddaughter. The names seem to go from one generation to the next. More amazing stuff. I can't thank you enough. My email pal in Oz is doing some checking for me today as well. She volunteers at the LDS site in Queensland.
Thank you again.
