We have the above gentleman born about 1832 in Harrow, Middlesex, son of Zachariah (a tailor) and Charlotte Brown. We have him in all census from 1841 to 1901 before he dies in 1907 in Yorkshire (we even have his parents and older children in the 1831 Census !).
He marries a Sophia Harbrow (a widow of ‘Full Age’) on 19/10/1862 in St Marys Church, Islington, Middlesex, with the Marriage Cert showing her father as Henry Badger, a Cooper. Her address at the time of marriage was 2 Strahan Terrace (which we could not find by searching this address in the 1861 census on FindMyPast).
In the 1871 census, George Stevens (a Baker in 1861 & on his marriage certificate) is found in Leeds, Yorkshire showing as widowed. In 1881 he is shown as single, living in Clifford cum Boston, Yorkshire. He subsequently remarries in 1887 to Ann Wilson in Bradford.
The question is, who was Sophia Badger/Harbrow as having looked for birth/marriage/death/census we have failed to find any trace of her.
Thank you,
Al & Al

Interestingly there is an advertisement on 26 Oct 1862:
"Furnished Apartments - Drawing-room, with extra Bed-room if required. In the best part of Islington. 2 Strahan-terrace, Liverpool-road."
Saturday, Oct. 26, 1861

Based on the age in the 1861 census Christine found, possible death for Sophia STEVENS:
Mar qtr 1866 Kensington (1a/81) aged 60
There are a few other possibles around the country - difficult to know when and where George and Sophia may have travelled between Islington and Leeds. :-\

Info only, there’s is a Sophia badger born 20.8.1798 Tottenham with mother Mary Ann, no father recorded. Was father Henry made up?

Hi All,
Many thanks for all of your searches undertaken.
Christine53 an interesting find as they were both 'bakers', my only concern would be - was it be acceptable for a 30 year old man marrying an 57 year old woman back in 1862 ? I think I will keep this as a strong possibility, if no alternative matches are found.
Emeltom & Maddy52 her room was quickly put to Rent within a week of her getting married and you are right concerning the possible death records.
Thank you, the search continues,
