If they had children you can look up their birth registrations which should show mothers maiden name.

The 1911 census should have numbers of years married - is this where 1896 comes from?

Can't see the details without ordering the certificate but this is likely the marriage registration.

They had a lot of children?  If you work through the list of their birth registrations (on the General Register Office website) you can find mothers maiden name.

There was an Emma with mothers maiden name Goodyer to match that marriage but you need to check the other births as well to confirm they all match.

Agnes Foden Dec 1898 Basford has mothers name as Goodson

Maud Elizabeth Foden Jun 1900 Nottingham has mothers name Goodyer

Eliza Ann Dec 1901 Nottingham has Goodyer

so if these are the right children I think Goodyer is the mother  :)

His marriage to Eliza Leonard gives his father as Henry Foden a Cotton Worker.

His birth in 1854 has mmn Astles.

Phebe Foden was a witness. Her birth (as Phoebe) has her mmn as Astles.

I think Hnery Foden married Mary Harvey in Congleton in 1848.

Previously, as Mary Astles, she married George Harvey in 1838, and had a son John in 1844, baptised on 19th October 1845 in Congleton, although no father's name.

1841 Census (probably): https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M7MY-45B

1851 Census: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:SG2B-1Y2

Mary on the 1861 Census with John, Henry and Phoebe: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:M72S-JYT
