Title: Struggling to decipher
Post by: greyhobbes02 on Saturday 04 March 23 16:02 GMT (UK)
Can anyone decipher what the very bottom occupation is?? The other above look like Smith and the bottom a bit like miner but I can't be sure.

Could you give the census reference, or the person’s name and location so that we can view the original page, please.

Yes, sorry. I found it on FindMyPast but its 1841 in Wincham, Great Budsworth, Northwich, Cheshire, England. William Buckley, 25, is at the bottom of the left hand page with his wife Martha and 1 yo daughter Mary at top of next page.

It's rock miner.

The occupation also appears several times on the r-h page.

Probably mining rock salt rather than building rock.
