Title: Missing ship information
Post by: sdbadger on Tuesday 21 February 23 22:12 GMT (UK)
Hello!

Posting for a friend (not a member here) who cannot locate any information on an ancestor's ship:

Michael Henderson (b.1774 Wallsend, Northumberland - poss. death 1839 Tynemouth), Seaman, was admitted to the Dreadnought Hospital in 1834. His admission record gave his last ship's name as "Thornton."  Friend hasn't been able to find anything on the ship.

Any thoughts on or hints to locating information about the ship?

Thank you very much!

A link to an article about the ship Thornton, Captain Charles Collins. This was in 1856   so could be an entirely different ship built much later.

Lloyds Registers are online   https://www.maritimearchives.co.uk/lloyds-register.html

Spotted 2 X "Thornton" and 1 x "Thorntons" for 1833 and 1834.

Click on the year/s you're interested in. The ships are listed in alphabetical order.
