Hi Carol
I've found this
https://ccm.net/forum/affich-1048629-photoshop-elements-2018-not-enough-ram
The collect answer is 3 posts down.
Hope this helps.
Gadget
Oh -it's for Win 10 Pro but might work

Hi Gadget, We have just tried it but it didn't work, most of the functions are not working. I don't think that the Elements 14 is compatible with windows 11. OH is not convinced and will have another go tomorrow.
Thanks so much...I will let you know :D

Sorry about that :(
You could try asking on the Adobe community pages:
https://community.adobe.com/
I've often found answers from there for PS/CC
Hope you can get it sorted otherwise it might be another upgrade to PS Elements and you've only had that version for a short while .

Yes we did try that Gadget but couldn't get an answer for Win11 :-\
We will see what tomorrow brings. I think it could be a broken registry. Getting everything sorted out with a new computer and Windows 11 has been challenging to put it mildly. It's a good job that we keep a book with all our passwords in.

As far as I can see, PSE 14 dates from 2015. About the same time Windows 10 was first released. Since then, there have been 7 newer versions of PSE.
I'm not a 'techie' by any means but I have read that Windows 11 works ('under the hood') differently to Windows 10 in some respects. Notably things like memory management, etc.
As Gadget's links show there are various 'tweaks' that people have made in attempts to get older versions of PSE to run under W11. Some successful, others less so.
Personally, I would advise upgrading PSE to the current version (2023). I'm not a big fan of manually editing the Windows registry or (temporarily) disabling Windows security options to 'sneak in' a version that isn't really compatible with W11. Yes, you may be able to get PSE 14 to 'work'. But at the possible risk to 'Windows 11 stability'.
As far as I know, the upgrade price is about $80 (£67).
FWIW, I run FTM 2019 on windows 11 without any problems.

Mike...Did you read my reply 7?

My apologies Carol! I missed (or inadvertently skipped over) your 'new software ordered' reply >:(. Forgive me, I'm an impulsive, opinionated and long-winded 'replier' at the best of times and I was too focused on Gadget's links and on my own 'Google'' results. I think this is generally called 'tunnel vision' ;).
I'm sure that your updated version of PSE will work just fine! From what I've seen at Adobe, the more recent versions of PSE are a bit more 'glitzy' that for example PSE 14: more (for Rootschat fairly useless) options under 'Quick Edits' and 'Guided Edits' and all sorts of 'Quick fixes' and 'Effects'. But all the tried and trusted PSE functions are still available in the 'Expert mode'.
