Title: Mental Health Hospitals in Surrey area
Post by: kirstys on Wednesday 08 February 23 16:12 GMT (UK)
Good evening

I am an Investigator at Locate International, a UK charity reviewing and investigating unsolved cases involving missing people or unidentified remains at no cost to the police or families.

We are currently working on a case involving unidentified skeletal remains found in Deepdene Wood, Dorking, Surrey in April 1990. Here is a link to our website with a little about the case. The man has remained unidentified after all these years. However, we are actively working on trying to identify him.

We would like to speak to anyone who worked at or attended Long grove or Netherne hospitals between 1975-1983 who may remember an older man who went missing suddenly or could assist us with information regarding the discharge process.

We would be grateful for any assistance you can provide. Should you have any questions or queries, please do let me know.

With thanks

Kirsty simon

Hi Kirsty

Welcome to Rootschat  ;D

I have created your own topic as the topic you posted on was created in 2014 and not really relevant to your inquiry.

As you discovered, we don't delete old posts so you may not get any immediate responses but anyone googling the names of the hospitals will be directed here.

Has the DNA route been explored?

Many thanks for your help. We are not able to pursue DNA at present so any information would be extremely helpful.

Even if someone did happen to remember a missing inmate, you would surely need DNA proof that the remains = that missing man? I’m surprised DNA hasn’t already been explored by police or others attempting to identify him.

DNA is likley to identify relatives and may at least point you in the right direction.
