Can anyone help. Ive been working on my granddaughters paternal line and have hit a complete blank!!
Her g.g grandfather was Michael Theobald Mathew Murphy
DOB 08 10 1907
By the 1940s he was married and living in England and that’s where he lived the rest of his life. We have absolutely no clue as to who his parents are. Any info would be gratefully received!
Thanks for reading

There is a birth registration for a Michael Theobald Matthew Murphy in Cork in 1906:
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/birth_returns/births_1906/01714/1678746.pdf
The birth date is wrong (1st November 1906), but the year is the same as the one he gives on the 1939 register. I notice with my own Irish relatives that their birth date was seriously inconsistent, so it may be a case of that.
A copy of his marriage certificate would confirm his father's name. The birth registration above gives his parents as Michael Murphy, a shoemaker, and his wife, Mary (also born Murphy).

Thanks so much for your help. You might well be correct regarding the dating. On the 1939 we’re any others in the family mention? And was this 1939 Ireland?

Michael married Elizabeth Mason in 1936 in Thanet, Kent. They are in the same county with their 2 children on the 1939 register (which was a register taken in England and Wales). I am not allowed to say much about their entry on the 1939 register due to copyright reasons, unfortunately.
FamilySearch has the birth registrations for the 2 children born before the register was taken:
Kathleen:

Michael:
https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:QVQN-5VST
Also their other children. Just search for Murphy children registered in Dover, Kent, with mother's maiden name Mason. Not sure how many of them are still alive, so I don't really want to name them.
This looks like the marriage certificate of Michael's parents:

It is very difficult to find them all together on the 1911 census with such a common surname.

Great finds, Queenie :)
On the 1905 marriage record, Mary Jane Murphy living at Peacock Lane, Cork - her father Patrick Murphy, a carrier.
This leads to this 1901 census for Murphy (Patrick a carrier).
House 45 in Peacock Lane (Cork Urban No. 4, Cork).
