Post by: RanneFraser on Tuesday 31 January 23 20:03 GMT (UK)
Anyone want to take a shot at this surname? The first name is Elizabeth, no idea about the second. Any help appreciated!

There aren't any Ridgates in the area, but there are substantial Ludgaters so i think you solved it! Thank you so much!

Is it in Sussex?
FamilySearch has a marriage of an Elizabeth Lidgater on 26th September 1602.

Yep it's sussex. Annoyingly when i updated the name on Ancestry, they gave me another marriage record with the 'Lidgater' name. Don't know why it didn't come up when i was searching using the husband's name. I'm usually really thorough, but this one just eluded me.
