Title: Help to decipher cause of death Pennsylvania 1912
Post by: inor on Tuesday 31 January 23 13:41 GMT (UK)
I'm having difficulty reading my great uncle's cause of death, especially the last part.
Does the last sentence say: "Caught between railroad car and accidentally carried away." ??
Any help much appreciated.

Maybe curb way?   Meaning the edge of the platform?

It looks like “Coke” way to me, and an online search found several references to “coke way” referring to the conveyor belt that transports coke to the railway cars. It seems he got caught between the conveyor and the hopper car that was being loaded.

Thank you, Steve.  I'm sure you're right about that being "coke way".  I can see "coke" very clearly now.
