Can you help me with the missing words. Does the rest look right?
'In arrest awaiting trial.
Freed by FG cm. ___ [?]
When in action ________ [?]
Discharge was a lawful
Command. Sentenced to be
[released/reduced*/returned?] to the ranks’
*He was a Corporal so perhaps 'reduced to the ranks' ?
-
I think line 4 is "when in active service".
Line 5 - "disobeying a lawful"
Last line is "reduced to the ranks".
-
I think it read 'Tried' rather than 'Freed' and after 'active service' it reads 'disobeying a lawful command'.

FGCM : Field General Court-Martial
No idea about the end bit though, unless it is an abbreviation for where the court martial was held.
-
The "end bit" is "for"
-
For. = foreign. Court-martialled abroad, not at home.

Thanks! That all makes sense :)
