Hello,
Trying to find John Hussey birth cert c1856. Son of Thomas Hussey, m Mary Bovindon in 1880 Eton.
Thank you,
Lesanne :)

Tricky. There's a Thomas and Sarah Hussey in Burnham, where John claims to have been born, but they're a wee bit too old to be having children in 1856
I suspect this is your man
John Hussey Miles
Birth 14 Feb 1856
Baptism 15 Mar 1857, Burnham
Mother: Ann Miles
1871!
Thomas Hussey 71
John Miles 14 Stepson
William Miles 16 Stepson

thanks Mabel.
There's no cert for John Miles or Hussey mmn Miles.. I asked the RO and they say its not him.... hmmm..
:-\

1861
Thomas Husey 52 widower
Ann Miles 38 Servant
Thomas H Miles 4 Servant's son (presumably John)
William Miles 2 Servant's son
-
There's births registered for a Thomas and William Miles in Eton, mmn Ogilvey (possibly - Ogilwy and Ogilboy on GRO) and a twin for Thomas, but the registration dates don't marry up with birth dates on the baptisms of Ann's boys
-
Thank you for looking. :)
It's a difficult one... there is always something to link, so I was told years ago..

And there's a Miles/Ogilwy marriage that fits

William Miles 2 Servant's son
In 1871 the two boys are still with Thomas HUSSEY as stepsons but 'Thomas H' is now 'John'.
I asked the RO and they say its not him
Who is 'not him'?
Debra :)

Free Reg baptisms for these boys show parents as Thomas and Catherine. Both baptisms are noted with burials - James 1855 and Thomas with 1858.

Father was Thomas wasn't he?
Catherine also died in 1860. Their son John Newman was born in 1852 and is with his uncle in 1861 then joined the army. He married Sarah MILES in 1882.

Apologies - yes their father was Thomas but both those boys died so they are not the ones with Thomas Hussey. Is that right?
Ann Miles, is unmarried in 1861.
She is likely to be with her parents Stephen and Martha in 1851 1718 /654/10
and a Pauper in the Eton Union workhouse in 1881 and 1891.
This doesn’t help though, I suppose.

Thomas and Catherine's sons James, Thomas and Henry all died, the surviving sons were John and William. They are not related to this thread they just happen to be the only MILES births registered around the same time.
I think that Thomas HUSSEY was probably the biological father of the two boys, John and William MILES. It doesn't look like either of their births were registered.
William married in 1883 to Sarah Jane STOKES in Kensington as William MILES but named his father as Thomas HUSSEY, farm labourer.

Thanks for replies folks.
Thomas Miles /Catherine Ogilwy marriage Cookham Jun q 1849 6/247
...........
Sarah Jane Stokes marries Albert Henry Ballard 24 March 1883 St Matthias, Kensington.
William Stokes, her father. Charles Ballard his father.
The certificate above (but on same page) is for March 7th 1883:-
Thomas Hussey (father Charles) of Aston Clinton Bucks.
Louisa Frances Maycock (father William)
Oh my... I shall re-read agn :)
-
I don’t think the Miles/Ogilwy family is relevant now.
Not sure what you mean re the marriages but just to confirm that
William Miles 25 yrs, bachelor, Painter, - father, Thomas Hussey, farm labourer
Married Sarah Jane Stokes, 18 yrs at All Saints, Kensington , May 14th 1883.
-
Thank you Heywood for that marriage date.. found it and saved.:)
The one in March 1883 was 2 marriages! one with Sarah Jane Stokes and one with Hussey. As I only had 1883 to go by :)
If a John Miles is found :-[ then I have to look for another family.
Many hanks Heywood and Dundee :)
-
I think if you check, the marriage you found was Thomas Gregory and Louisa Frances Maycock. :)

Just a quick update. Thanks to yr help yesterday,
I found that William Miles went to the US in 1889. Alice Clemence 'signed' them in.
The Agnes Jane Boyd witness is a poss link.
