Any help would be greatly appreciated,
My Great grandfather was Thomas Griffiths, born 1847 in Liverpool Lancashire.
His wife ,Mary Ellen Jones, born c1850 Penymaes ,Holywell Flintshire.
They had two children,John b 1874 Bagillt. Charlotte Ann b 1877 Bagillt.
I have been unsuccessful in finding a marriage for them.
I have found marriage Banns for 13 th 20 th and 27 th October 1861 for a Thomas Griffiths and Mary Jones , St Augustine Everton Lancashire, and therefore thought a marriage would have followed in November or December of 1861, but no joy.
I have the couple in 71,81,and 91 census as Thomas and Mary Ellen and in 1911 she is just Ellen.

Thomas would have been 14 and Mary 11 so highly improbable
If Mary was from Wales and their children were born Wales have you checked if they married in Wales?

Possibility?? Marriages Sep 1870
Griffiths Thomas Holywell 11b 385
JONES Elenor Holywell 11b 385
In 1871 they have no children

There is a Thomas Griffiths marrying an Elenor Jones at Holywell, Civil Marriage in 1870 (see North Wales BMD), which seems a good candidate. This would fit with them stating they had been married 40 years on the 1911 census.
Chesters.

Thank you for your replies, I think that is definitely the right couple, especially as she signed her name as M Ellen Griffiths on the 1911 census form.

Not sure if you already read the initial version of the post in question prior to editing, but rather than the 1870 marriage in Holywell, the reply above mine previously instead referred to the marriage of a Thomas Griffiths in the district of Corwen in 1869, and one of the possible spouses for that marriage is listed as an Ellin Jones.
I'd say the Holywell one seems much more likely due to the year and more significantly the location, but the Corwen one could still perhaps be an outside possibility. From a quick search I can't see any other Thomas Griffiths marrying either Mary or Ellen Jones that could realistically be them, but I could have missed one. Do you have any information on the fathers of either Thomas or Mary Ellen that would help confirm the correct marriage?

In the 1851 census Thomas’s father is given as John Griffiths and mother Mary. He has a sister Caroline.
