Title: BALLINAMORE
Post by: marcie on Thursday 19 January 23 18:47 GMT (UK)
I wonder if anyone can help, I have Mary Ann Keegan born 7th February 1915, died in England 1983, I know her birth wasn't registered, but parents were James Keegan and Annie Mcgoldrick, as a family we have no further knowledge of her, would dearly like to know more about her family
Kind Regards

irishgenealogy.ie is a free family history website run by the Irish Government. It holds all the civil registration records (post-1864) and church records for certain counties.

It looks like Mary Ann was the first child, as her parents married on 25th November 1914:

When you say you would like to know more about her family, do you mean her family in Ireland or her life after she immigrated to England and got married?

There is death certificate from a tree on Ancestry - showing her husband as Frank Thomas Anthony.

The couple married Q/E March 1942 in St Albans, Hertfordshire. At the marriage she is shown as Mary A.J. Keegan.

It looks to me like James & Annie did not register the births of some of their other children, because I cannot find any Keegans under maiden name McGoldrick until 1920, when a Patrick Keegan was registered in the Mohill registration district.

Isn't there an Elizabeth, born 24 Oct 1917, Ardrum?

The 1939 register has a
Mary Keegan (surname crossed through and replaced with Anthony), single, address Napsbury Hospital, St Albans, Date of birth 7 Feb 1916, Personal  Occpn. - Mental nurse.

The date of change isn't recorded but there is a capital "M" against the entry which, I believe, indicates marriage as reason for change.

Oh my gosh I actually searched for her in 1939 and couldn't find her!
