Title: Grahams, Williamsons, Carmichaels, Tynan, Drumgar, Armagh
Post by: MacOisdealbh on Saturday 14 January 23 18:42 GMT (UK)
Searched the Armagh chain on here  for above families in my family  Tree. 1911 Census has my Grandad Andrew, his dad Andrew Snr, wife  Margaret Jane and  sister Ellen  Williamson at Grand Dads birth and found her mom who is Anna Carmichael. Have both Williamson and Carmichael  dads and brothers, but no Graham info after Andrew Graham Snr. Any info tips or searching sites would be appreciated.

Hi,

Just to be clear, you are looking for information on Andrew Graham Sr., whose son Andrew Jr. married Margaret Jane Williamson in 1904?

Here is their 1904 marriage certificate (for others):
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/images/marriage_returns/marriages_1904/10187/5706435.pdf

Andrew's father, Andrew Sr., is described as farmer.

Apologies if I am missing something, but it doesn't look like Andrew Jr. is with his wife Margaret on the 1911 census?:

She is alone with her 2 children, Andrew and Anna.

Thank You QotW,
I do have that info  though, it is Andrew before him that is mia!
Sorry for the work you did, i have another Andrew Graham in Monaghan that might fit, whose dad was Andrew as well. Thinking the three Andrews in a row  is a trend!! :)
My G Dad Andy was not the most responsible Father either,  another trend it seems, and his son, my moms brother, was also Andrew, known as Junior, from Dublin docks southside area , Trinity Ward.
Thanks again Q

It can get very confusing when there are so many Andrew Grahams!

So you have:

Your grandfather Andrew, who was born on 12th March 1908 in Drumgar. His parents were Andrew Graham and Margaret Jane Williamson, who married as above.

Margaret Jane Graham is on the 1911 census with her 2 children; she is listed as married, so her husband is still alive, but not present. Do you know where her husband Andrew is in 1911?

Without finding Andrew on the census, it will be very difficult to find his birth registration. You suggest that there may be an Andrew Graham in Monaghan that might fit, is it this one?

This doesn't really fit with Andrew's marriage certificate, where he states that his father was a farmer. Monaghan Andrew's father was a publican.

Ellen Williamson married in 1910 in Drumgar to Robert Berry. They are living in Lisdrumard in 1911 so not sure to which census you are referring.  As Queenie has mentioned, Margaret is at home with the two children, but Andrew is not noted with them.

George Williamson died in 1903. His will is on-line on the PRONI wills site. He appointed his brother Charles Williamson of Garavaghy executor. It looks as though Charles was unable to carry out executor’s duties and Margaret replaced him. George left his farm to Margaret and there are bequests for daughters Ellen, Mary & Hannah Williamson & daughter Martha Carson. Also grand-daughter Anna Williamson.

Administration (with the Will) of the estate of George Williamson late of Drumgar County Armagh Farmer who died 10 June 1903 granted at Armagh to Margaret Jane Graham Married Woman.

I don't know if this is correct Andrew but may explain his absence in 1911 census.

1901 census:
Hinnard,Ouley,co Down
Andrew Graham 32 Presbyterian born co Down farmer single (living with his mother Elizabeth age 60 widow and his brother Samuel age 35)

1911 will calendars (Proni)
Elizabeth Graham died 19 April 1911 granted admin at Belfast to Andrew Graham farmer

The transcriber for the 1901 census has got it wrong!  The townland is Finnard in Ouley DED.

House 21 in Hinnard (Ouley, Down).
