Hi I'm struggling to find any information on William Whitehead born 1850 Warwickshire living in Sheffield 1880 on one census his birth place is transcribed as earby common Warwickshire which i have been told on another site could easily have been transcribed wrong and be Hurley common this is as far as I can get. Can't find any birth records etc.
Any help would be amazing

working from the info in the opening post, I think we might need to start from this 1891 entry from Attercliffe cum Darnall, Sheffield district ? [as per Ancestry]
William Whitehead 41 Head b "Earby Common" Warwickshire
Lucy Whitehead 51 Wife b Sutton Bonnington, Nottinghamshire
Edward Whitehead 17 Son b Wincobank
Fanny Whitehead 14 Daughter b Wincobank
John W Whitehead 12 Son b Wincobank
RG11; 4616; 78; 54;
That links to Comberton's 1881 suggestion www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:Q27Y-HXYV The address shown on Ancestry is Low Wincobank
Wife's name is different

I had a suspicion about Alfred on the 1881 census as he seemed too old to be William's son and a Whitehead
Alfred John Freeman
Birth 24 Aug 1862

Marriage to Mary

Image on FindMyPast has his father as John, a labourer

Thanks all, I didn't have his second wife's last name so that's fab. You lot are brilliant it took me weeks to find Mary freeman and work out her son wasn't Williams ;D did any of you find any information on Williams mum and dad? On ancestry and FindMyPast it keeps taking me back to a family that don't link him to Sheffield
Thanks

It seems to point to his parents being John Whitehead and Sarah nee Dixon. They are easily followed through the years.
There is this baptism
3rd February 1850 Kingsbury
William Whitehead
parents John (labourer) and Sarah of Hurley
plus baptisms for 6 siblings 1840-1856
Unfortunately the vicar who married John and Sarah seldom recorded details of the fathers.

William doesn;t necessarily have to have headed to Sheffield with family. He's left home before marriage, being a lodger in Wilnecote in 1871. He may just have moved to where there was good work to be had. Not unusual in those days
However sister Fanny b 1857 marries Amos Moore in 1882, and by 1891 they are also in Sheffield

Yep that's the parents names I keep getting problem is any related family trees have that William Whitehead parents John and Sarah married to a Mary price with different children's names and in 1881 a coal miner.
Could he have been married to two women? Or am I missing something
-
The William who married Mary Freeman and the William who married Mary Price are both recorded in 1881 with their respective families. The 1861 census even has two William Whiteheads living next door to each other and they may even be related. One is son of John and Sarah, other is son of William (deceased) and Ann, both baptised at Kingsbury in 1850 and 1848. Only the certificate of the Whitehead/Price marriage would show if he is the son of William and Ann. The William who married Mary Freeman has father as John, a labourer.
