I am looking for the birth of Ann Powell. She married David Evans in 1908. Their place of residence was Ystradgynlais and her father was James Powell a collier. I would like to know both parents names. Prior to her marriage a daughter Blodwen was born c1904.
Would appreciate any help.

Have you looked for them on the 1911 census to establish her birthyear and birthplace? Ann Powell is a very common name in Wales
All censuses are free to search here

Who were the witnesses at the marriage?
Were any female relatives “ present at the births” of any of the children?
What year of birth does she give in 1921?
(I see 1883 in 1911 but 1880 in 1939 can you please confirm)
Does she give an age at marriage?

Thank you for all of the above but I've investigated all those avenues. Will have to do some lateral thinking.
Thank you for all the replies.

The 1911 entry for Ann b 1883 Ystradgynlais has 2 children born before 1908 - Blodwen who you mention but also James b 1905/6. GRO online shows him as James Rees Powell b 1906 - no mmn
Rees was a brother to the Ann Powell shown above & her father was James
The 3rd child Jennet could be the biggest clue as Ann Powell's mother & sister were both called Jennet as per census details above

The poster (via PM in December) stated her Ann was born 1880 as per 1939 register and it was not her family, that Ann was likely registered under a different name in 1880.
Age is different throughout census for Ann, but she is consistent with name. The 1921 is very likely her family which I believe connects the previous census given.
Also a birth month of late February given in 1939 would be within a 6 week period to be registered within the April - June Qtr.
There can be errors in the 1939 register for whatever reason, as have been noted by many throughout research.

Another clue -The marriage also has him as David D as per 1921 census index
Marriages Mar Q 1908
POWELL Ann Pontardawe 11a 1245
EVANS David David Pontardawe 11a 1245
Wish the poster good luck in their searches
