Alan thanks very much , I have the info you posted but there are a few details I didn't know about like my grtgrt grandad william having a middle name or that there was another marriage .
Thanks for all that , are you related to the blair or mcgeachy families
-
Not related... just enjoy searching. What is the furthest back couple you have for Blair's?
-
The furthest I have got is with James Blair born 1761 and Christian Stevenson born 1765 who married 1785 .They are my direct ancestors.
It's getting a bit difficult now though, I'm looking for their death record. I though I found Christian in the 1841 census living in Barrhead age 90 but the age works out wrong, there's a death record 1836 age 79 but I don't know what it says it's so faded I can only make out her name. would you have a look at it please.
-
No doubt that that record refers to Christian Blair.
Whether or not she's yours it is impossible to say.
It's quite probable that her death/burial/mortcloth record could be in her maiden rather than her married name.
-
I'll have a look, I never thought of that. The place is in Stirling and they lived there a while in Balfron
I'm looking for James in death and burial at the moment.
I'm going to try the 1841 census for Stirling just to see if he is there and her record will be more likely if he is, wish me luck 🤞
