So trying to decipher this marriage certificate, pretty much struggling with most of it if honest. What i know is this is the marriage of William McGowan to Margaret Earlie. So trying to get as much as possible.
Want to know where to go next as looking for Williams birth place and parents. As always any help welcomed and appreciated :)

William's parents are John = Iron Work Labourer and Margaret = formerly Healy
Margaret's parents are William = Coal Miner and Ann(i)e formerly Lixton or Sixton (deceased)

Thanks, wonder if it could be Anne Sexton?

:-\ :-\ There appears to be a definite "dot" over the second letter of her former surname.
-
Scotlandspeople statutory birth index has entry for William McGowan, mother's maiden name Healy, born 1905 Coatbridge or Old Monkland (ref. 652 / 2 / 544)
Margow

I think Annie's surname is Sexton with what looks almost like a dot over second letter part of the 'e.'
If you want to find William's parents and place of birth you could check census records to see what's listed as place of birth and go from there.

Went on to find William McGowan's birth cert (hopefully right - parents match). What does the date/detail under mother relate to for 1892, i thought marriage...but when i search McGowan/Healy marriage in 1892 I get nothing.
-
It’s the date and place the parents married. In this case 30.4.1892 Coatbridge. I can see a marriage that goes with that in Coatbridge or Old Monkland, GROS ref: 652/2/79.

Thanks all. I do find this interesting and do wonder how some of you can decipher this stuff... :D
Now looking into Darngavil, seems one of Scotlands lost villages (aligned to the pits)
