Title: Tipperary? or Waterford?

I'm just wondering why I have found double entries for several baptisms and a marriage in Clogheen/ Ballyporeen/ Ballysheehan/ Shanrahan & in Templetenny/ Ballyporeen in Roman Catholic Diocese Waterford & Lismore in ifhf. They are recorded both as Co. Tipperary and as Co. Waterford. The baptisms are all recorded as Co. Tipperary both in nli registers and in FindMyPast. They are given as Parish Clogheen The marriage is recorded in FindMyPast as Co. Tipperary but in the ifhf as both Co. Tipperary & Co. Waterford. It is in Templetenny/ Ballyporeen.
I would greatly appreciate any information. I have drawn a blank on the net.

Don't understand what you mean by the marriage is recorded in the NLi registers as Co.Waterford.

The parish of Templetenny Ballyporeen is in Co.Tipperary on the NLI site.

Or is Waterford written on that particular marriage?

Waterford has some Tipperary records, see the T and W after the name of each parish and the key at the bottom.

Also notice Waterford has more Ballypooreen marriage records than Tipperary, and Tipperary has more baptism than Waterford

Sorry for that mistake. Yes I did mean ifhf not nli. I thought I'd checked it but obviously not well enough. I think I've now fixed it.
I will investigate more about the online sources. I see what you mean about the T & the W but I don't really understand what you mean about Waterford having some Tipperary records.
I still don't understand why ifhf would have 2 records of the same events, one Co. Tipperary & one Co. Waterford. The marriage one at the nli is https://registers.nli.ie/registers/vtls000632128#page/46/mode/1up
I've transcribed it as Filters: Marriages 1841 February: image: e.g.
2nd page/ 2
Matrimonie? 1841 Febum? 23rd ...

Because the Tipperary parishes in question are in the Diocese of Lismore and Waterford the registers maybe held somewhere in Co Waterford or there may be copies held in Co.Waterford so the local IFHF transcribed the Tipperary parishes along side their own Co.Waterford ones and put them up on their section of RootsIreland.
Meanwhile Co.Tipperary put up whatever registers they have on their section of RootsIreland and in some cases this will mean the same baptism or marriage showing up twice or as the numbers of records they have varies some Co.Tipperary records will only show up on Co Waterfords section.

Thanks again. It is becoming clearer. Basically they are Tipperary, but also copied in Waterford?
one more question as I don't live in Ireland:
What's special about the Diocese of Waterford & Lismore please?

RootsIreland is a collective of different heritage centres each with their own section so some crossover isn't surprising.

Nothing special about the diocese, it's just one of the diocese.

Thanks. I'll explore it further. I thought there might have been some special reason why both Co. Waterford & Co. Tipperary would have the records from that diocese.

Nothing particularly special.

Many (most? all?) Irish diocese cross county boundaries.

Which means that records can show up in multiple counties when a diocesan approach is taken to the records, which is obviously the approach the Waterford folks took.
 
Actually this Waterford diocesan approach is easy to understand, as some very important parishes cross the county boundaries, so how is one to know which record belongs to which county? You can't.
