Hello

Wonder if anyone can help I am looking for details of Robert Slingsby ordinary seaman on records 1803 and 1805 on a ship Amaranthe.  Mother Hannah. On Family Search

Hopefully service records will give some details of to who he is and hopefully he will be mine.

Living in Hope

There's a service record which shows that he was from "Gainsboro". Served 1805 (then aged 20) to 1823. Applied for a pension in 1842.

Pension records show that lost his left eye while serving on Amaranthe in the West Indies.

He's in the 1851 census in Greenwich Hospital.

He seems to have been with HMS Amaranthe for her entire service, which you can read about at Wikipedia

Thanks for that so it looks like he never married so not the one I am looking for.  All the records seem to point to Gainsborough just hoping he would have met Ann Wilkinson at Shipley but thanks for the info
