Title: News Paper Article
Post by: Turner0502 on Thursday 24 November 22 19:18 GMT (UK)
Hi
I have found a news paper article from the Edinburgh Adviser dated Oct 26, 1790, story Oct 22, 1790, It is about Selkirkshire Game Duty. Sorry I can't attach it here, says there is an error, file is too large
Looks like a list of certificates issued, by the sheriff clerk
Could someone explain what Game duty is and why certain people are listed in this article?
Example are they like game wardens?
court appointed protectors of game?

I always thought, and this confirms https://georgianera.wordpress.com/2013/07/24/game-duty-lists-gentlemens-and-gamekeepers-certificates/ it is a license to shoot game.
