Is it possible to decipher this inscription from my gr gr grandmother's Lutheran Prayer Book? It may have something to do with her illness and death. I'd be very grateful for any help.
-
I think it reads like this, although the word Minerva is a kind of guess (it could well be something else, but the poor quality of the scan makes it difficult to be sure).
Den 29en Juli
wurde ich in den
Minerva heim
aufgenommen.
Translated: On July 29th I was admitted to Home Minerva. (with home meaning a place for elderly people, I suspect)

Hi Zefiro
got as far as you have. Still struggling with the middle word
-
Where did your gr gr grandmother live??
-
@davecapps - she had emigrated from Württemberg to Philadelphia and died 29 Nov 1850. Years ago someone looked at the page and said it read "Marienwen". But nothing of that name ever appears in my research here.
The scan is actually a photo and because of the limits on uploading it's the best I could get within the 800KB limit.
Thank you.

Ok. I still read Mar??heim.
So if that is in Philadelphia then i´m out.
We would need more input
Names. Places, dates
-
Thanks for looking at it. She was a widow Johanna Schneider and died Philadelphia 29 Nov 1850. She died of consumption at 37 leaving six children. Not sure any of that helps! But many thanks for having a look.

What was her maiden name
-
That was her maiden name. She never married the father of her six children due to religion. Her death certificate however uses the name of my gr gr grandfather - Dambly.
