I have found a birth and death date for Ethel Rowe Brooking
She was born 21.6.1889 in Exeter and died a spinster in 1971 and
would like to know where she fits in with my Brooking family
Any help is appreciated.
Many thanks

A published tree, with photographs, shows her as the daughter of:
John Trimble Brooking and Rebecca Susan Ryan Rowe.
If she fits with your family and you need further details, just post.
You should be able to find her in censuses on Family Search though.

My goodness that was quick reply
I already have this couple of my tree but did not have the details of Ethel so can
now reunite her with her family
Thank you so much for your hard work

Many thanks for finding out this information.
I had been sent a chart for the Brooking family but it did not note any of the children.
I can now follow up what happened to all the children
Many thanks for your help

In August 1921 3 properties were advertised for sale in the Devon newspapers "Re John Trimble Brooking deceased, By direction of the Executors". They were the Queens Hotel, Queen's Street and Nos 91 and 90 next door. Having spent many, many enjoyable hours in Exeter, I wondered if the Queens was still there?

At top of map the Queen's Hotel is marked at the junction of Queen Street and Little Queen Street and is now an Italian restaurant (Streetview).

Thank you for this information I will have to study this it is all new to me
that he owned those properties.
That will keep my old grey matter alive
Many thanks

Again, thank you very much for all this information.
He certainly was a wealthy gentleman.
I looked up my records and my Rowe and Davey relatives all had properties
in Queen Street. Still have a lot of sorting out to do but you have put me on
the right road

While chasing info.re the Queen's Hotel under a google search "old photos queen street exeter" I recall spotting a photo of a "Rowe Bros" on Queen Street in Victoria House?
-
How wonderful I will now have another line to follow up.
Hope you were lucky to find out the information you were interested in
about the Queen's Hotel
Thank you, once again

Having spotted mention of the Queen's Hotel I wondered if I might have ever visited it. I think the Queen's ceased to be a pub "proper" in the 70s - long before I discovered Exeter and might have tippled there. It's now an Italian restaurant.
Good luck with the search.

Good luck with your research too and thank you for all your help
