From last nights TV about the man that stole the World Cup , I can’t find his death recorded.
Born and lived in South London, Walworth. I knew the man so would like to know more about him .
Thanks Roy

He may well be still alive. Do you know if his father was called William? Did he have any siblings?
There is a William Cugullere on the 1939 in London with two children and one closed record.
Added: There is a marriage for William in Southwark 1907 to a Rose Wilson. There are 10 children registered for this couple which includes Sidney.
-
Sidney's wife died in 1976 and they don't appear to have had any children. He may well have changed his name and may perhaps have gone abroad.
If he were still alive he would be in his nineties now.
-
Several articles state that he died in 2005 - ‘according to the Daily Mirror’.
-
2005 many thanks and yes William was his father .
-
Well if he did die in 2005 it is not registered on the GRO website. Can't see one with any corruption of the surname.
-
A published tree gives a death in Lambeth but no link to the register.
There may be a death with a change of surname.
-
I did wonder, Heywood, if he had changed his surname. If he changed his surname that may be why his name is still closed on the 1939 Register. The other alternative is that he went abroad somewhere and died there, also possibly under another name.
-
From Daily Mirror reporting, they have in an article on him which included:
He died of prostate cancer in St Thomas’ hospital in 2005, three years after his only child Lesley passed away.

Added: Daughter Lesley born in 1953 Lambeth

There is one possible death in Lambeth for a Sidney (different surname), age 79, in July 2005. Sidney Cugullere's birth date was 3rd Qrt 1926. This death reg gives a birth date of 26 June 1926. Certainly a possibility if he did change surname.

I thought that one too. :)

Bit puzzled about the mention of daughter Lesley. Sidney, according to records, didn't marry until 1964. The maiden surname for Lesley's birth is not the surname that appears for Sidney's marriage. I cannot find a marriage between any Cugullere and the maiden surname for Lesley.
-
It looks as though the lady was previously married. It also seems that the couple were together before her marriage to Sydney as Free BMD gives both surnames for her.
-
What name was the possible entry under a different surname Monica ?
-
Roy, I have sent you a PM with more details as requested.

I found a court record that gave Sidney Kingsley as one of Cugullere's aliases, and I think that's the name that his death was registered under.
-
Oh , that’s great thank you .

Thanks MonicaL - I couldn't for the life of me remember where I had seen the record with his alias!
