The archives aren't actually showing a copy of the death certificate:-

Perhaps one of the kind volunteers in British Columbia might go and look it up for you.

Presumably you've seen this which gives his date of birth?

Thanks I have seen this, I haven’t found a birth record for him, I assume he was born in England but it’ll be nice to see a record to prove or disprove it 👍

Hi,
There is an article in the Manitoba Morning Free Press, (Winnipeg, Man.) Feb. 12, 1910 about the opening of a new theatre in Regina. Barney was mentioned as manager of the theatre, and that he is an Englishman from Streatham Hill
-
Hi,
From the Leader Post (Regina, Sask.) newspaper Feb. 27, 1939, Page 2, "Curtain Falls on Famous Old Theatre" with photo of Barney.

How do I go about stopping this thread?

Next town over from me has a library with most of the death registration microfilms.
Will see if I can find Barney!

-
Yes, agree with Sandra, nice bbart. I forgot you were a BC'er. :)

Thanks all!
I did find Barney and Lilian's registration, but I had to print them, then take a photo of the print with my camera. To read them clearly, the resolution is so high, that the image is too large to upload here, without chopping each into four pieces. I can email them to any who want to see them; just send an email address by private message!
Here is a full transcription of them, minus the Dr's names, which were illegible.

The day of death, indexed as the 24th day, should possibly be the 29th.
There is a big ink blob over the final digit, but as the Dr. attended him until the 29th, that is the date I would go with.

thank you for taking the time to get it, I have the details of his daughter, that’s a sad story, I’m not sure that her family are aware of her manner of passing.
Annoying that there is no mention of his parents or further info of his early life. Oh well, at least I have a vague idea and have most of his and his families lives sorted out.
Thank you everyone for your help. :)

Happy to help! It's unfortunate that Barney's parents weren't known.
I have edited out some of my post on Lilian's cause of death.
-
Thank you very much and thank you for your time :) it is most appreciated. I’m starting to wonder whether he changed his name but I guess that’ll be a mystery for the time being :)
-
I was just thinking that he changed his name!
Pat's death says she was born in Canada, so I assume they met and married in Canada.
Lilian's death says she was born 1898 in England, and there is no birth record index for her, and if the newspaper item posted earlier is right that Barney came over in 1901-ish, who is her mother?
A mystery! It must be solved!
Edit: I wondered why Lilian's husband didn't know her mom's first or last name, when Pat was still living, and in the same city. Barney must have been married before?
-
It is a very complicated family and too much info to post but the jist is Lillian was born in London to Barney’s first wife, Barney arrives in Canada in 1910, the passenger lists says 9 years, it’s hard to read but either way, 9 years previously he has been in Canada. Lillian joins him in 1914 at the age 16. Barney and his second wife visit England in 1913.
He could be a Bernard but I haven’t found a birth or marriage that fits that name either.
I go back to him every so often hopefully next time I pick it up something new will pop up on the genealogical websites :)
-
Well, I do love a mystery! I shall poke around, and if anything of interest comes up, I will post!
-
bbart -Generous look up and a very, very speedy response as well. :) :)
Great stuff.
Regards
Sandra
-
Wow bb, such kindness. And oh so speedy.....from your 1st post ....3 hrs. 31 mins later and you
were back posting. 8) :) Well done you. Wikitoria dropped in very lucky.
Cheers,
DB
-
Thanks, Sandra and DB!
It might seem like it was a speedy response, but I didn't post until I had my shoes and coat on, ready to go!
The library was down to two ancient microfilm viewers (from 8); hopefully this resource won't totally vanish, as there are so, so many indexes with no link to an image at the Archives.
