Wasn’t sure whether to post this in burials or here.
Sure it’s bloomin obvious but I just can’t figure it out this evening. Can anyone tell what this word is in a relatives burial record in the unconsecrated ground column. It looks like none in. He was baptised so don’t think it refers to them in that way.
Thanks

Hi,
It looks like non con to me.

Thank you Lynn, that would be it, eyesight terrible tonight and it just seemed odd to put it twice in the same record, in the same column.
Thank you!

I'm not convinced that it says "non con". The writing is all joined together in one word. What would it mean, anyway?
Could you post a few other entries under that column? What is the place and the date, please?

Does it mean 'non conformist'?

My relative is Thomas Bowen, 30th June 1900, Borough of Bolton.
Many thanks everyone

As the only other entries in this column, other than "do" are "R Catholic", then surely Thomas's entry is an abbreviation for "Nonconformist".
And of course, both would be in the "Unconsecrated" area - "Consecrated" is for Church of England burials.

Yes, it must be "Noncon" (= Nonconformist).
