Title: Glasgow street name
Post by: pendlelad on Friday 28 October 22 09:59 BST (UK)
Hi all,

This screenshot is from a baptism record (1875). What do you think the name of the street is? Looks like Milnlady to me but cant find a street of that name in Glasgow.

Thanks,
 Pendlelad

Hi,

There is a Millroad Street listed in the Scottish Post Office Directory for Glasgow 1874/1875

I think the record you have shared says Milroad (mispelling?)

I'm inclined to agree with loobylooayr.

Just looked through this:
https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/files//research/census-records/street-indexes/1881/1881-glasgow.pdf (https://www.nrscotland.gov.uk/files//research/census-records/street-indexes/1881/1881-glasgow.pdf)

And the numbers go up to 66.

Millroad Street still exists - but from looking at Google Street images, it looks like the original has been demolished and all the housing looks modern.

Looby :)

Just additional confirmation on what has been found by Looby and manukarik.

1875 Valuation Rolls on www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk show:

RODGER DYER
Tenant Occupier
HOUSE NO 54 MILLROAD STREET
BARONY
1875
VR010200231
