Title: FindMyPast renewal
Post by: thebounder on Thursday 27 October 22 12:07 BST (UK)
I've been a Findmypast subscriber for years, and it always renews on the expiry date (28 Nov) with the 20% loyalty discount.  Today (27 Oct) I received an email from them which says "Come back to Findmypast with 20% off when you resubscribe. You’ll need to be quick, this short-lived offer ends on Saturday 29 October."  I have written to them for clarification.

I think that they have just sent the same message to everyone.  My subscription ends on 3 September 2023 and yet I, too, received that offer.  :)

It gave me a fright as I'd checked my sub last night (to reply to ankerdine's request) and all looked fine. I've been out all morning and came back to that message.

I think they need to get their filters  sorted.  Could it be the change from Pro to Premium that's got them confused?

Could be  :-\

As well as the filters, perhaps they need to get their spellcheck sorted as well  :)

I thought the 'loyalty' discount was 15% ?

and have just checked and I seem to be correct. This 'offer' does not apply to the new, Premium sub (which includes the 1921 census), which is the one I have.
If I were a Pro or Plus subscriber and had decided to stick with that, I'd be severely peeved that I would be paying more than a brand new customer as that doesn't seem to equate to 'rewarding loyalty'.

Yes, my mistake, the loyalty discount is 15%.

I just got a reply from Findmypast which says "I am sorry for the confusion this email was sent in error, it was not intended for Premium subscribers I am afraid.

You will renew as normal with the 15% loyalty discount."

I renewed last week, then this morning I got an email to a mail address I had used for a previous subscription a few years ago and they offered me 20% discount  >:(

Ps I just double checked after reading previous replies and yes, it doesn’t apply to premium. The sub was for the Irish site and was in Euros  :o

But if its an auto renewal then you will get the 15% loyalty discount?

I too have only offered the 'usual' loyalty discount of only 15% for a renewal due shortly. Considering I have personally contributed over £140 towards purchases through their exclusive 1921 census package, I don't regard they have taken the trouble to check my account in respect of that. Methinks time to knock-off auto renew and sit back for a while.

Mine is due to renew on 23rd and I haven't had anything!

I sent an online chat query to FindMyPast this morning and they are still "offline". So ggrocott, nobody will be getting answers and your own renewal is sailing close to the wind - 'DD usually activated around 2 days prior to renewal date', so that will be Monday next.

That's interesting I think I shall cancel it and see what happens next!
