Title: What date is this?
Post by: Latchfordian on Friday 21 October 22 15:00 BST (UK)
The following shows a date in the header of a record of burials. At first glance it appears to be 1700 but those zeroes don't look anything like the zeroes in the burial records. Any ideas please?

I've seen lots of '8' formed like that.

Thank you everyone for your replies. I think it must be 1788 as you say, though I have to admit that I've never seen eights formed like that before. Another step up the learning curve!
