The Hercules transported emigrants from Harris, North Uist and Skye to Adelaide, South Australia and Melbourne, Victoria as part of the Highland and Islands Emigration Society in 1852-53. We have good passenger lists and information about passengers who were transferred to other ships as a result of a severe disease outbreak aboard the Hercules. However we are lacking records of the crew of the Hercules, apart from Captain Baynton and the surgeon. Does anyone know whether it is possible to find out names of the crew? Unlike most emigrant ships, the Hercules was a navy ship, so records may exist.
Thank you.

The Royal Museum at Greenwich states that the National Archives at Kew have some records but also state
Few centralised records of naval ratings (i.e. those who were not commissioned officers or warrant officers) were kept before 1853

There are Admiralty records for HMS Hercules at the National Archives Kew. The Musters should give a full crew list but there are also a variety of other recs such as surgeons letters etc. https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_aq=hercules&_cr=adm&_dss=range&_sd=1850&_ed=1855&_ro=any&_st=adv (https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/results/r?_aq=hercules&_cr=adm&_dss=range&_sd=1850&_ed=1855&_ro=any&_st=adv)
