Hi
I wonder if anyone can help me. I've just seen on my Ancestry DNA that someone has Charles Andrew Baker b 1836 in Southwark as the father of a person on my father's tree: Emily Baker b.1862 Holborn.
I have a different father for her James Baker b.1835 Hackney. He was married to Catherine Davies b.1837 Finchley. I had him down as her father because his job and place living matched Emily's wedding certificate. See my notes below.
On wedding certificate Emily was living at 62 Whitethorn Street, Father JaMes Baker, Cab Proprietor.
In 1911 census it says that Emily was born in Kings Cross.
however for a long while now I have thought that i have this wrong. I'm getting no matches before Emily and I think her siblings aren't right.
Emily married Richard Henry Thompson born 14 Jan 1854 in Hale Street East Peckham Kent. I have the wedding cert. On his notes i have : In 1891 Niece Eveline Nunn aged 8 born Forest Gate was living with Richard and his wife Emily.
i believe Eveline Nunn is the key in finding Enily's family? can anyone help at all please. Many thanks
Diana

I agree with this completely - birth entries all show mmn as Surridge.
However, cannot find a marriage between James William Baker and Eliza Ann/e Surridge.
I believe that Eliza Harriet Mary (as registered) morphed into Eliza Ann (who married Alfred Oliver Nunn 1871). In 1861 she is in Romford with her paternal grandmother Sarah Ann (who married Samuel Hunt 1848 Bethnal Green.
James William born 1852, died 1855
Harriet Sarah born 1857, died 1858
By 1871 father James William Baker is a widower in Mile End.
James Baker married Sarah Ann Conway 10/6/1827 Barking, Essex and son James William bp.17/2/1828 Romford. Looks like father James was buried same year on 25/9/1828.
In 1841 Sarah Baker is a victualler with her sons James Baker 14 and John Conway bc.1824 (the latter presumably illegitimate).
So, in conclusion, Eliza Ann Baker and Emily Baker were sisters.

Thank you all so much for your kind help. I've had a quick look and names are popping out at me specifically Romford as all the family ended up there including my dad. Also the Hunt marriage. I have an actual wedding certificate which was in the family's possessions but no one knows why they had it. Also I've seen the name Surridge before somewhere maybe in my DNA matches. I will read through everything next week to see if I can find connections. Thank you all again. Diana
