I would greatly appreciate it if someone could have a go at restoring this photo of my 2nd great-grandmothers headstone, I know it will be difficult as the lettering is 93 years old.
-
Had a go but failed.

Thank you for trying
-
Dovecote - same result for me as japeflakes :(
Switched your photo to negative but still unable to read much on the headstone.
Attempted to repair the name 'Catherine Bird' by patching up the faded bits with copies/pieces from the letters that could be read but it looks too false in my opinion.
Attempted to find a font within my software that matched the letters on the headstone - failed. I've some text , Lucida Fax font, just to show the only letters & numbers I could make out.

Thank you

I see, in case it helps:
IN REMEMBRANCE
OF
MY DEAR GRANDMOTHER
CATHERINE BIRD
????????????
WHO DIED 30 DEC. 1928 AGED 9? YEARS
???????????
???????????
Second to last line:
IN DEEPEST SYMPATHY
-
WITH DEEPEST SYMPATHY
-
At the base "with deepest sympathy" "also her grandson Johnny"
I am at risk of maybe causing offence but below CATHERINE BIRD , I think it reads
"amusement caterer of " can't make out the last word which ends "ors ."
Below the date words appear to be in italics so may be a quotation
Could this make any sense?
-
After Caterer ... Of WAY[FOR?]

Thank you everyone for your helpful hints and photography it was much appreciated. With the help from roots chat and other ancestry sites I am happy to say I now know what my 2nd Gt Grandma's headstone said.
