I am looking for any information on William John Anderson. He was born about 1838 in Shoreditch, Middlesex and died about 1886. I think his father was John Anderson. His wife was Eliza Brine born in 1845 in Dorsetshire. I have found a William and John in the census of 1861 but am not convinced it is the right father and son. In 1881, William was a house painter but in 1861 he was a plumber. His father John was a carman. I am unable to find anything else and would really appreciate any help. Thank you. Judith Guy

Hi,
I can't see where it gives his POB as Shoreditch. In 1871 it's just dittoed from above as Middlesex and in 1881 only the Middlesex is dittoed from above but all the other entries on the page either ditto both Middlesex and the area or say ditto Middlesex and then give the area.
Sorry, lots of dittoes :)
I think that the marriage cert. could help.
Regards,
Daisy

I notice the 2 surviving children are married in the Wesleyan Chapel on Cassland Road
Alice Elizabeth Anderson married Erasmus Mollindinia Paterson 2 August 1902
Edward Thomas Anderson married Margaret Louise Parnell on 10 August 1904
both describe their father as a builder deceased
As Heywood says to find out definitely what his fathers name is you need to purchase the marriage certificate
