Hello, apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this. I'm trying to find information about the marriage of a Philip McDaid from Lower Fahan to a Fanny Sweeney (from either Leat Beg, Fanad or Claggan, Carrigart). I have hit a brick wall and stumbled one your posts while researching. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be grateful. Thank you.

Welcome to RootsChat LiamS
You need to give some idea of the year of the marriage and religious denomination so people know where to look.
If after 1864 and RC than you would expect a Civil Registration Cert 1845 for non RC.
https://civilrecords.irishgenealogy.ie/churchrecords/civil-search.jsp
Earlier years than you need a parish record.

Thank you so much for all this information, I never knew my Grandad had so many brothers and a sister
-
Thank you everyone for you help. Especially Kiltaglassan and CarolBN.
CarolBN you mentioned your great great grandmother was Fanny Sweeney and she was married to a Philip McDaid. The only information I have from my side is that the Fanny Sweeney I am looking for was (I believe) born in Leat Beg, Fanad to a James Sweeney and was married to Philip McDaid of Lower Fahan in 1876. I can't find a marriage record so I must be looking in the wrong place. When she was married she had probably moved from Leat Beg to Claggan, Carrigart. I'll keep plugging away. Sorry it has taken me so long to realize my question had so many responses.

Hi Liam,
I can’t find a marriage certificate for Philip and Fanny either but I have them both named on the baptism certificates for their two children, John McDaid (born 1878 ) and his sister Mary (born 1878).At his death in1881,Fanny was then referred to as his Widow McDaid. She is then on the census forms of 1901 and 1911 as Fanny McDaid as living with her son John. Best wishes with your search and thanks again to all who have assisted.

Apologies Mary McDaid’s Dob was 1880.
