Smith/Smyth
Abraham and Bridget Smyth..in Digbeth, 1840 to 1890...
Abraham was a Nailer. Bridget a Screw-turner.
Five children.
Anyone come across this couple and family in their own searches/relatives ?
Any info appreciated.

What censuses do you have them on?
Please list names & birthyears for their children
Are you sure surname is Smyth? When did Abraham & Bridget marry? The only match I can find in Warwickshire was Abraham Smith b 1798 Ireland & Bridget 1809 Ireland but you give 1840 as his birthyear??
No death in 1890 in Warwickshire
EDIT
Looking at the 1851/1861 entries I think he was Smith - not Smyth
-
Yes the 1861 entry is under Smith.
Abraham 63
Bridget 56
children
William 22
John 17
Elizabeth 15
Mary Anne 10
Sarah 8
I was thinking the 1840-1890 was the time they were in Digbeth, perhaps MikeW could clarify what those dates relate to for us.

Note son William born Ireland but son John born Birmingham so presume the marriage was in Ireland.
Not even going to hazard a guess at the children's births with such a common surname.

Birthplace Kells on 1851 entry but birthyear 1809 on that census

Thank You, CaroleW. and Milliepede......
My request was a wild/remote hope/wondering if Abraham's Family had shown up somewhere in someone else's family research/records, possibly through their daughters' marriages.
I have been through the Censuses, and found possible links to sons William and John, who moved to brass-foundry instead of nails.
Abraham(1798-1877) and Bridget (1818-1891) were married in Ireland, April 1838, and son William was born 1839. Possible dau. Bridget (1841-49) born in UK. Abe & Br. seem to have lived in the "courts" around Digbeth from 1840s to their deaths.
Re the name : NOT just being picky ~ both forms, Smith and Smyth, are used in Ireland, for historical reasons, and ours was/is Smyth...but of course anyone else hearing it writes 'Smith'.
Thank you both. Something may turn up.
