Does anyone have the Nottinghamshire Family History Society journal Vol.7 No.7 (Apr 1993)? I'd love to get a copy of an article on pages 34-35 about the death of James Blagg of East Markham and I can't locate a copy of the journal.
Many thanks if you're able to help.

Only a thought - have you asked NFHS for help? :-\

Hi BumbleB - I had thought about that, but they don't sell old copies of the journal in their online shop and don't particularly encourage enquiries on their website, so I thought I try helpful Rootschatters first.
And thanks jonw65. That's where I saw the information about the Blagg article and I had the burial information, thanks. I hadn't seen the death notice though. I was planning to try to track all descendants as he's a common DNA ancestor via a mystery ancestor of mine - so the 65 children and grandchildren info is a bit of a blow!!

Very glad that you got a result!

There are baptisms of 12 children at East Markham for a James Blagg and wife Mary, he is listed as a weaver. (NFHS) Do you have these?
With a marriage at West Markham ( Markham Clinton) 30 Aug 1768 to Mary Hempsall.

Thanks larkspur. I have those and I've just pieced together the 14 children of his eldest son too - a prolific bunch!

hi,
Nottingham archives used to have copies of NFHS Journals not sure if they still do and I'm going there tomorrow so will have a look for you.
also found a James Blagg aged over 21yrs, bachelor, a Horse Dealer of East Markham and Hannah Snell marry at St Giles Church Elkesley, maybe the son of your James Blagg in case you don't have it.

Hi nottsgirl1. Thank you so much for the offer but no need now. Another kind member of this wonderful forum has kindly sent me through a copy today. Now to work out which line of descent ends with me! And yes, that James does look like one of the children, especially with that occupation - although there are some music masters and a parish clerk as well as the horse dealers.
And thank you again larkspur. I've seen a photo of a whole line of quite short gravestones of the family on Ancestry, but it's not really possible to read them. If you are passing that way, a close up of James Blagg's (d.1819) stone in particular would be very welcome - but please don't go out of your way :)
