I am not sure if I am posting on the right county.
but I am trying to find out, When my Great Grandfather Edward Jones purchased Abergafren or Abergrafran Farm, Minffordd, and who had it before him.
after leaving the farm Edward & his wife Mary moved to Trem Tecwyn, their Son William took over the farm,
Mary died abt 1947, Edward died 1956,
William died 1957,
I also wonder who had the farm after William died,
Any help will very appreciated
Kind regards
Zoe

Are you sure the farm was purchased & not rented?
You don't give any birthyears - have you checked the 1921 census & the 1939 register to see if they were there then?
If the farm was owned - did William leave a will?
-
Carole,
Edward donated a piece of his land to the local swimming club, in abt 1929, so this is why i am thinking he owned it,
Edward's birth year i am not sure of as i still cant find his birth registration, but on his death cert it has his age as 83,
Mary born 1881,
Their son William 1899/1900
I don't have a FindMyPast subscription,
I never thought to look to see if William left a will, I will see if I can see one.
Thank you for your reply

Zoe, is this the same family?

Hi Zoe,
If he died in 1956 age 83 he must be on the 1939 somewhere.
Do you have any other details of family? Children, when married etc. We could take a look to see if we can help.

I hope this link works, but you will possibly have to on Facebook.
There is a lady called Bronwen whose family are connected to the farm. An Elizabeth Jones is mentioned.
By the way it's a beautiful place 🙂

Have found the family in 1921 & 1939 if you need. They are at Abergafren 1939, but does not say farm, nor is his occ. a farmer. But he has a farm lab in household.

Several other articles refer to the Pierce family - tend to be in Welsh.

Pop abergafran in "Parish etc"

Welsh Journals has an obit - in Welsh - about "Daniel Pierce, fferm Abergafran" - who died 2 March 1907. Much respected, suffered with his health and a staunch member of Bryngwyn.

You can see the property on this map: https://maps.nls.uk/view/135197818
Aber-Gafren just below the T and H in Penrhyndeudraeth
The OS map on https://www.bing.com/maps shows the name clearly.
You can also see the house on Google Street View. The name is covered by foliage but you can just see part of GA and then FREN
From The North Wales Express 7th August 1896, suggests he was a farmer also

Hi Zoe,
After the late 50s the farm was occupied by Mr Peter and Mrs Megan Jones, who stayed there until mid 90s when Peter died. Megan lived in a bungalow nearby until recently and, if still alive, will be in a care home in Canaervon as the neighbour told me was her last whereabouts.
My grandparents from Birmingham camped there and arrived one holiday to find your grandfather had sadly passed away, but the new owners Megan and Peter allowed them to stay there. They camped there multiple times a year from late 50s until 90s 🙂.
My mum might know more so I can ask her any of your questions, you never know!

Ps the farm was tenanted as far as my mum is aware, so not owned by your family, hope this helps.
