Just in case anyone is looking for the same family.
I have a Joseph HAIGH marriage in 1794 in Thorne, who stated his father was James HAIGH of Huddersfield, a butcher. Does being a butcher help narrow the search?
Can anyone claim him?
Joseph was born in 1769, so his father would have to have been born before 1750?

Which record does it show James’ father? I saw the marriage entry on FindMyPast and no father is mentioned. Generally the father’s name appears from the 3rd Quarter 1837 but there are some church registers where the vicar does give more information.
Just checking we are talking about the Thorne north of Doncaster? Or is there another one?
