Hello,
This board has been invaluable in helping me! I've had a few wrong turns but I guess thats common.
Anyway - I've traced my oldest ancestor on one line back as John Feild born 1604 and possibly dies 1684 in Cople.
However I can't find any record of a marriage (probably to an Ann Andrews) or of his parents at aall. I've tried all the usual pages and read line by line the parish registers for the time.
Has anyone got any advice on what to try next please? I keep finding a John Feild born in Leighton Buzzard at the same time but thats not him!
Any advice greatly received!

The 1684 burial does not give an age for John when he died.
Edward Feild and his wife Mary baptised a child John at Cople 16 May 1680, they then baptised another called John on 23 Feb 1690 so that burial could have been their first named John.

Where and when were Johns children born, just to give us some idea of dates and possible places

Ahhh darn - maybe not my John then! This is so hard, Ive tried everywhere!
I have that he married Ann Andrews and they had:
Ann 1603
John - 1633
James - 1636
Mary - 1639
Edward - 1641
I'm descended from Edward and he is a pain in the proverbial as well since he seems to have had another three children with his wife Mary Manton AFTER she died!!!!
Thank you so much for any advice you can give!

Thank you John - I think I must have missed that when Iwas searching through the Parish records!
I think I need to accept that this is as far back as I am going to be able to go.
There's a real weird mystery where a man called Field but from Yorkshire came to Cople and married an Elizabeth Skelton but I can't see any link between him and my family - which is a darn shame as it'd open up a full tree all the way back to the 1200's! It just seems too much of a coincidence that someone with that name would come all the way down to Cople from Yorkshire for no reason!
